It’s been a crazy couple of weeks and I was going to take this week off from WFMW too, but as I sat reading this book tonight, I just couldn’t help but start thinking of what I would write about it for you all. This book is written for girls, but Moms of boys stay with me…
The book is titled, “Preparing Your Daughter for Every Woman’s Battle: Creative Conversations about Sexual and Emotional Integrity” by Shannon Ethridge. Here’s a description from the back cover, “Preparing your Daughter For Every Woman’s Battle provides creative tools that will give you the courage and confidence to talk openly and honestly with your daughter- and instill values that will lead her to a lifetime of sexual and emotional integrity.”
This book is an awesome tool. I knew the time had come to talk to my oldest daughter about puberty and all the emotions she has been experiencing, but I had no idea what I was going to say. I don’t want to tell her where babies come from, and, frankly, she’s said she doesn’t want to know thankyouverymuch. Until this book, I just told her to feel free to ask me any questions she had. Now, I can be sure her information will come from me and that she will have a Christian worldview on the subject of purity.
This book is written in two sections. The first chapters are written to the Mom (or adult), and the second half of the book is written to be read together with your daughter. The author has a way of writing that makes things so much less stressful for me and my daughter as well. She also talks about God’s love and forgiveness, which is huge to me.
Tonight we read the first chapter of the second section and my daughter begged me to keep reading. That is so amazing, coming from a shy girl who would rather die than talk to her MOM about her body or boys.
There is also a book written by a man that addresses issues boys face on their journey to remain pure. You can check it out here. I’ll be hitting the book store to buy this one when my son is older.
Don’t forget to check out all the WFMW tips at Shannon’s!

I will have to look that book. Thanks.
Some that I have used for both my kids because you can read it pretty young and older too.
The Princess and the Kiss By: Bishop
The Squire and the Scroll By: Bishop
I loved the set Secret Kepper GIRL dy Dannah Gresh for modesty issues.
Thanks for the recommendation~sounds really good! We do love THE PRINCESS AND THE KISS mentioned above, and then there’s another little gem called DEAR PRINCESS. It’s written from an EXTREMELY conservative viewpoint, and while I don’t agree with *everything* in it (i.e. curling your hair being a distraction from the LORD) there are too many gems to fully overlook it.
